Use Paraffin Wax In 9 Unknown Ways

When you hear “paraffin wax,” the first and probably the thing that pops into your head is candles, and you probably think it’s nothing too fancy but it may come as a surprise that paraffin wax can be used in many different ways as it’s great for lubrication or insulation, and it can be used as a cosmetic treatment.

  1. Preserve jams

Let’s say you have your own garden that produces lots and lots of fruits and berries or you may just prefer making your own jams, in any case homemade jams normally have less sugar than those commercial ones so sometimes they can go bad very quickly. The perfect way to prevent it is to seal it so that it’s not being exposed to air.

Only use food grade wax; It’s easy to use, melt the wax and slowly pour the melted wax over your jam and rotate the jar to make sure that the paraffin seals it completely.

  1. Seal bottles

Making your own wine, oil, or something else that you want to store in bottles can be tricky so you can use wax to seal it.

Again just melt the wax, put some sellotape around the neck of the bottle because this will allow you to break the wax seal and open the bottle easily when you need to and then just dip the bottle into the melted wax and spin it so that the wax covers all of the sides.

  1. Use it to lubricate drawers

Wooden sets of drawers look very nice, but we all know that as time passes, it can become impossible to use them because they become sticky. To lubricate the runners and make them work again, just rub a bar of wax over them.

  1. Wax doors and windows

Windows and doors can get very sticky just like drawers. To keep them opening and closing smoothly and to keep sliding doors gliding, just run a bar of wax over the tracks and frames and it works like a charm.

  1. For repairing zippers

If you have a stuck zipper, just use paraffin wax because it is for sure your best solution. Just clean the zipper and lightly rub a bar of wax up and down the zipper. You may need to repeat this process several times but it works.

  1. Use for snow shovels

If it snows in the area where you live, you probably have to clean the driveways from the snow every now and then. Sometimes snow can stick to the shovels, making this job even harder and more time-consuming.

The paraffin wax will help you deal with this disaster. Just wax the snow shovel like a pair of skis or a snowboard.

  1. Maintain a wood cutting board

Cutting boards are used to cut and prepare food and we certainly want them to be easy to clean. That’s where a paraffin wax treatment can help.

Use food grade wax;

Apply a small quantity of the wax to a clean cloth;

Rub the board, making sure that you cover the entire board;

Allow the wax to be absorbed;

Remove any wax residue with a dry clean cloth;

Reapply as needed.

  1. Hands treatment

We use our hands for everything and they get exposed to water, cold, and heat constantly. So it’s no wonder that the skin on your hands can become dry very quickly and easily. Paraffin wax treatment is great to make it smooth and soft.

Simply dip your hand into low-temperature melted wax. You may need to repeat this process a few times to get a good coating;

Place your hand into a plastic bag;

Put your hand into a cloth glove;

Wait for 10-15 minutes and then gently peel the wax off from your hand;

Repeat the process with your other hand.

  1. Feet treatment

This process is very similar to the hand treatment.

Dip your feet into low-temperature melted wax. You may need to repeat this process a few times to get a good coating;

Place your feet into a plastic bag or use clear plastic wrap;

Wrap your feet with towels;

Wait for 10-15 minutes and then gently peel the wax off from your feet.
