These are the findings of a leading researcher at the Oxford University, Dr. Paul Kelley, who indicate that the most common type of torture people go through is having to wake up in the morning and go to work at any time before 10 o’clock in the morning.
Unfortunately, this is not possible for most of us who wake up too early in the morning to get ready and go to their work places.
The human body runs on its own biological clock, and this is a genetically programmed cycle that regulates your levels of energy, production of hormones, function of the brain and perception of time. This is why a research has shown that we are torturing our body by getting up early and starting work before 10 am every single morning, affecting negatively our bodies and disturbing the balance in the body.
Going to Work Before 10AM
According to the doctor, we cannot change the rhythm of the body, and we cannot learn to get up at the same time every day. Remember that your heart and your liver have different patterns and you are asking them to shift every two to three hours.
As the 20th century came along, so did the 8 hour working day. This unfortunately, did not consider the natural human body clock. In addition to this, in the ancient times the human body evolved around the daily cycle of sunlight, unlike these modern strategies.
Our entire society is sleep deprived. This is really an international issue. Everybody is suffering from this and people don’t really need to suffer.
This is why this doctor suggested that schools start from 10 am instead of 8 am. To make things more interesting, this was actually tried at one school, and after some time, the attendance and the overall productivity of the students improved, and the grades were drastically improved too!
But, what if these improvements were introduced to the entire modern society, not just in the schools? People would be more energetic, be more productive, focused, and definitely more happy, instead of being overtired, work very long hours, and be addicted to coffee.
People who are forced to go to their work before 10 am are more exposed to physical and emotional stress and have an increased risk to suffer from various health issues.
Because of all this, people drink more than three cups of coffee on a daily basis, try their best to look as fresh as possible, and the most effort they do is try to stay fresh and alert during the entire day. If you want this transferred in numbers, that is 40 billion dollars spent on coffee every year!
